Innovate solutions for a Climate Resilient Singapore!

Small ideas can create positive impact for the environment
The evolving Climate Crisis is an urgent challenge that we must rise to. As a nation, Singapore faces a range of climate risks that cannot be understated. From warming temperatures exacerbated by the urban heat island effect, rising sea levels threatening our coastline and extreme weathers affecting our food, water and energy security, its effects can be felt across every aspect of our everyday life.
The Climate Crisis Challenge is launched in collaboration with Greenology to empower youths to develop and pilot innovative ideas and solutions to enhance Singapore’s environment resilience.
We strongly believe that youths, with their fresh perspective and exposure to new technologies, can be at the forefront of innovation and change to create a future that embraces environmental sustainability.
Innovative, Insightful and Impactful solutions from youth
2023
The inaugural Challenge was open to lower secondary school students, with teams competing to create solutions to tackle environmental problems relating to Water, Energy and Food Waste.
Supported with guidance from expert mentors and a small sum of seed money, interesting prototypes and ideas such as a rain harvesting kit, an energy saving campaign, and a food portioning system were designed and presented to our panel of judges.
Upon deliberation, ideas from River Valley High School, Crest Secondary School and Nan Hua High School came in first, second, third respectively.
2024
Climate Crisis Challenge 2024 evolved into a Nationwide Challenge for secondary level students and we received overwhelming submissions of proposals relating to issues of Food Insecurity, Heat Stress and Biodiversity Loss!
After 2 rounds of evaluation, 8 teams entered the Finals, where we were treated with delightful presentations from the teams and heard creative ideas to gamify learning and biodiversity conservation, food production workshops and a portable and convertible fan for immediate heat relief.
Congratulations to St Margaret’s (Secondary) for emerging as Champions of Climate Crisis Challenge 2024!
Thank you to Singapore Pools (Private) Limited and National University of Singapore for supporting this year’s challenge!
We will be back with Climate Crisis Challenge 2025 ~
